Vatican Bears False Witness Against Gay Priests

"In an eagerly awaited document, the Vatican has reiterated its policy against gay priests, but has said it would allow those who have 'clearly overcome' homosexual tendencies to start the process of becoming a priest," reports CNN.

In no uncertain terms, queer men are to be ban from Catholic priesthood. Only ex-gays are allowed so long as they prove they haven't been homosexual for at least three years.

"The document, only 21 paragraphs long, restates Church teaching that deep-seated homosexual tendencies are 'objectively disordered' and that homosexual acts are grave sins." (Reuters)

'It flows obviously from the church's teaching on human sexuality, which has been constant from the First century to the 20th Century -- that homosexuality is an intrinsic disorder. It is a psychosexual disorder.' (CNN)

But where in the Bible does it say that gays are 'objectively disordered'? Or that "homosexuality" is a sin?

The Catholic bible says "practicing homosexuals" but that's today's convoluted interpretation. The Bishops Bible of 1568, approved by the pope and the papacy after the Protestant Reformation, said "abusers of themselves with mankind." The Geneva Bible of 1560 said "buggerers". “Buggerers” is an old English slang word that means "persons who practice sodomy [anal intercourse]." What's significant about this is, where the Bible once clearly stated that the specific act of practicing anal sex was the sin, now the Catholic bible says "practicing homosexuals" as if all same-sex sex is sin. And the Vatican's recent document goes even further than that: It now includes the sexual orientation itself and even "support[ing] so-called gay culture" is a sin. Does this mean straights must turn on their gay family and friends and hate them or they will be sinners too?

The pope and the papacy are promoting a flat-out lie. Essentially the pope is falsely accusing homosexuals of being sinners because of their natural sexual orientation. He not only bears false witness against gays and then discriminates based on the papal lie, but he shuns all who "support the so-called gay culture" as well and brands them as homosexual and a sinner regardless of the truth.

But a lie is a sin. And any lie -- as the Vatican's document does agree -- is against the "spirit of truth."

'It would be gravely dishonest for a candidate to hide his own homosexuality, regardless of everything, to arrive at ordination,' states the Vatican's document on gay priests in Catholic seminary. 'Such an inauthentic attitude does not correspond to the spirit of truth, loyalty and availability that must characterize the personality of one who considers himself called to serve Christ.' Thus, it is "gravely dishonest" for the pope and the papacy to write and promote a document that supports biblical text that has been altered by none other than the Catholic church itself. It is morally reprehensible for a person to claim to be a servant of Christ and then knowingly bear false witness and tell lies to promote variance and discrimination. It's nothing short of egregious sin done twice over. Now that's a "grave" sin.

Where is the "spirit of truth" in the pope and the Catholic church?
